To many models, being photogenic come naturally. The following are the tips and techniques from Wiki How on how to be Photogenic. Apply them and see if you get more engagements and request for photo-shoot.

Modelling is a skill that can be learned by doing. Try these posing techniques and tips and in no time, you will be taking on more and more engagements.

The three very important areas and approach to focus on to be beautiful and photogenic are: 1) The Face, 2) The Body, 3) The picture.

1) The Face:

1a) Look after your skin. Skin care industy is a billion dollar industry for good reason. Look after your skin will make you look younger and age slower. Make sure your skin is excellent condition.

1b) Differentiate yourself. Make youself unique. Photogenic people are confident. It shows. Do not be concerned about what wrong with our face; our freckles, the gap in your teeth, how squinty your eyes get when you smile. Embrace your imperfection, you will look much more photogenic in your photos that way.

1c) Show your emotions. There is a big difference between a doll and a mode. You can easily to spot a someone who is photogenic from someone who is just posing. Do not fake your emotions. Smile naturally. Act naturally, your mouth, your eyes and the your cheeks. Allow your natural emotions to show , the more photogenic you are. Smile with your teeth. Relax your mouth. Smile lightly. 1d) Don’t look at the camera straight on. Turn your face slightly to the side to create natural highlights and shadows and slim the shape of your face. Should not tilt your head up. Tilt your head slightly down and to the side.

2) The Body:

2a) Pose Your Body. Photogenic people know their body and best way to show and work them. Know your physical weaknesses. What parts are the most attractive, and which part are a tad more unflattering in photos? Play up your best parts and turn the less attractive parts away from the camera. 2b) Turn away from the camera. As with the face, facing your body to the camera straight on does the same thing to your body as it does to your face. It makes you look bigger. Turn your body ¾ to show your body from an angle. Create shadows and depth in your pose. 2c) Slim your arms. Put one on your hip and angle your elbow back and away from your body. For a sitting pose, turn so that the camera is at your side. Bend your knees and stagger your legs slightly. If you cross your legs, cross the leg closest to the camera over the top of the other.

2d) Bend your joints. Add both movement and a sense of natural poise to your photos. Your elbows, wrists, knees, and ankles should all be comfortably bent. It is alos more interesting.

2d) Lean towards the camera. Things that are closer are larger while things that are further away are smaller. To create the illusion of a small, sleek body, lean into camera slightly with your head first. Image titled Be Photogenic Step 105 2f) Be comfortable. Keep all the posing tricks in mind and do whatever comes naturally. Acting incredibly natural as if the camera is not there. Allow your body to fall naturally into its most comfortable positions.

3) The picture:

3a) Dress to impress. Especially for Fashion photography. Pick your best outfits. Neutral tones and muted colors work best. They enhance your natural characteristics. Avoid anything that hangs or drapes very loosely on your body. Don’t wear anything too tight either. Don’t wear anything for photos that you wouldn't wear in real life. Be yourself. Do not wear something that is out of your comfort zone or style range. 3b) Know the light source. A light source directly above you, give you dark shadows under your eyes. Light source from the side will create bold background lines. Pose so that the light source is in front and slightly above you. Do your photoshoot in natural light near a window or outside. The best lighting occurs in the hour after sunrise and the hour before sunset, i.e. the magic hour. 3c) Choose an interesting location, e.g. scenic of backgrounds. Work with your surroundings and pose your face and your body. Photoshoot in a comfortable environment where you are the focus.

3d) Use props to increase interests. Props add fun and interest to your photo. Hold something in your hands help you pose your hands naturally. Lean against a wall help you pose your body. Incorporate something that you enjoy doing. If you love reading, hold a book casually. Props help you pose more naturally and add interests. Do use large props or anything that is too distracting. 3e) Be confident. Confidence shows. It is the key to being photogenic.
